I am so pleased to announce that I am now represented by Caldwell Snyder Gallery, San Francisco, CA. I am honored to be included in this extraordinary gallery’s roster of artists.
After a long, cross country trip from my studio in New Jersey to San Francisco, my new series, Mermaids will arrive today at Caldwell Snyder Gallery. The Mermaids are a fusion of orphaned, vintage, photographs, collaged with digital photographs, abstract drawings, pigmented bee’s wax (encaustic) and mixed media. To add narrative texture to the Mermaid’s bodies and garments, I digitally altered, combined and repurposed photographs of flowers taken on the High Line in NYC and my studio garden, old wall paper, text from 1940’s documents and other vintage ephemera . The photo collage elements were integrated within many layers of Japanese papers painted with pigmented bee’s wax. These disparate, collaged elements transcended the physical attributes of the materials and became one brush for me to paint these portraits of strangers.
