☀️☀️IT’S FLAT FILE FRIDAY….. And this collage has found a home in Massachusetts. Most Fridays I open up my flat file drawers and share works on paper from various series. Photo collage, encaustic, thread and mixed media image 7x5” on 9x12”, 350 lb. archival paper. This mixed media collage is a fusion of my photographs, pigmented beeswax on Japanese paper, thread and various drawing materials. This little gem was a labor of love.

About the Work…

The integration of orphaned, vintage photographs, digital photography, abstract drawings and encaustic paint in my work occurs simultaneously as a dialogue develops among these elements. The mixed media approach to my work is both additive and subtractive; employing many subtle layers to form an amalgam of biographical texture. The facial expression and posture of the figure in the photographs influence my palette, the lines and marks that I make to create the narrative abstract drawings and paintings. As I work, these disparate elements transcend the physical attributes of the materials and become one brush for me to paint these portraits of strangers.

I am a painter of contemporary, portraits of strangers and abstract narratives that are a fusion of orphaned, vintage photographs, digital photography, encaustic paint and mixed media. The basic human response to identify the other is endlessly intriguing to me. My work is exhibited nationally and can be found in private and corporate collections throughout the United States and abroad. My home and studio are in New Jersey.
